If you decide to move to the Philippines and live here, you will quickly learn that if you ask a person a question, their answer might not be definitive. If you ask a yes or no question, the answer might not be clear-cut.
A person who says yes might really mean no. A person who says no might really mean yes. It can be maddening. They will really keep you guessing.
However, if you know how to speak the language in the area where you are living, you have an advantage. Instead of answering simply “yes” or “no” they have more words. They have a word that means 100% yes, they have a word that means 80% yes, and so on. If yo understand these words, you can set your expectations better and have a better idea of whether they answer is definitely yes, or just a possibility. This can be very helpful. I believe that this lesson of Bisaya Buddy is one of the most important things you can learn because it will help you keep your sanity in the Philippines.
Try your best to memorize these words! They will come in handy if you are living here and help you properly know what to expect. This could be a lifesaver!
